THE UNTOLD STORIES OF KETA
(Poetic Prose)
They forgot to tell the story of the old slave town on the West African coast called “KETA”
They told their minds the Sea had eaten up every shred of its ancient history and made their hearts believe it’s stories of Black resilience didn’t matter
But All Gods children must travel to its shores with their travelling shoes
For Keta is the ancestral homeland of all who search to find their roots.
A beautiful stretch of land sandwiched between the Atlantic Ocean to the east and the Keta Lagoon to the west
A people with a beautiful cultural heritage and a history of warrior conquests
The land where Maya Angelou found her roots in Nineteen sixty three(1963)
And a place where all Blacks must trace their ancestry and break their spirits free.
Keta was built by God to sit on top of the sand and watch the sun rise above its shore
And if Ghana is the “Gateway to Africa” then Keta is the Door
For from the shores of Keta thousands of Africans were shipped into slavery
And that story cannot be wiped away from history or the Black mans memory
KETA is ordained by God a Kingdom Equipped To Achieve
And a stroll on its beautiful beaches would bring to your soul relieve
For in Keta lies the heart and soul of the Trans Atlantic slave trade
And a lot of scars from the ancient constant coastal slave raids.
So tell the Government not to forget to tell all Blacks from the Diaspora the history of the old slave town Keta
Tell them We hold high the banner to protest that the History of Keta matters just like Black lives Matter
So I say don’t cover up the Keta story
Keta is Black history!!!
